rooted door tampa

AUG 22 - SEPT 22

In the age of technology, we are reminded of our need to reconnect…. to people, to life, to our roots.

The stories of our past authentically shape us and breath inspiration to the  journeys we have yet to discover.

Our sense of curiosity beckons us to to reveal unexplored possibilities. All we have to do is open the door...

It is this desire for exploration that inspired us to create.... The Rooted Door: Secret Spaces.

Event Details

Dates: AUGUST 22 - SEPTEMBER 22

The Rooted Door is partnering with exclusive hotels to present the "Secret Spaces" event series. Guests are invited to indulge their curiosity and uncover hidden spaces within partner hotel properties.

Our inaugural event in the series will be hosted at the historic Hotel Flor in downtown Tampa.

"Secret Spaces", presented by The Rooted Door, is an immersive event series that unveils a hidden world within Hotel Flor. For an entire month, we will transform a "secret space"—formerly the private residence of the hotel’s original owners and never before open to the public—into a captivating environment of artistic performances, music, and theatrical storytelling.

The Center for Architecture & Design, Tampa Bay is a not-for-profit organization established in 2015 with the generous support of the American Institute of Architects Tampa Bay Chapter and the Tampa Community Design Center. They  are here to help discover the Power of Design to shape our Community through their programs in Historic Preservation, Sustainability and Design Excellence. CA+D present Tampa Bay Design Week each spring, and offer tours, lectures, films and gallery installations throughout the year.

A recent CA+D initiative has been to spotlight the historic West Tampa Centro Espanol.  They offered a walking tour of the neighborhood and introduced USF Architecture students and Professor Adriana Pablos to the Centro Espanol which was selected as the site for their spring studio.  Finally, the students presented their work, drawings and models, at the Center's new building on Howard Avenue to an enthusiastic audience of community leaders, neighbors and design professionals.
